Description

This is a farmhouse, likely dating to the late 18th or early 19th century, constructed of red brick with ashlar stone dressings and a steep slate hipped roof. It has stacks along the side ridges. The farmhouse is two storeys high with an attic, and has a square plan with a three-window front. Architectural details include an ashlar plinth, flush quoins, a decorative band, a moulded eaves cornice, and flush window surrounds around pointed-headed Gothic casement windows. The original windows were two-light pointed-head windows in the centre, with tripartite windows on either side; the centre light was flanked by narrower side lights. However, square bay windows with matching three-light windows have been added to the ground floor, with evenly sized lights. A doorway is positioned centrally, within a flush Tudor-arched surround with a hood supported by brackets. A central gabled dormer features a pointed-head casement pair. The south side mirrors the front elevation with a two-window range, incorporating the same tripartite windows above and added three-light square bays below. The rear elevation includes a similar dormer, tripartite upper windows, square bays, and a two-storey projection, likely added later, with a two-light window above a Tudor-arched doorway. A single pointed-head light is positioned on the first floor on each side of the projection. A matching addition was built around 1900 on the north end. Although believed to date from 1720, the building's profile is more characteristic of the early 18th century, while the detailing appears to be from around 1800.
