Description
The Malthouse is a row of three estate cottages, now functioning as a single house, built in 1860. It is constructed of red brick and features imitation stone slate roofs. The building is one and a half storeys high and has a U-shaped plan with a slightly projected gabled center and projecting gabled wings. Designed in a picturesque Tudor style, it includes stone mullion leaded windows, although some have been replaced by casements.
The front range has large clustered chimney stacks at the angles. A cogged brick string course runs along the building. The center gable features a pair of leaded casement windows above the door, which is framed by a flush stone Tudor-arched surround. To the left, there is a four-light mullion window on the ground floor with a two-light window above it under a gablet. To the right, there is a two-light mullion window. The wings have three-light ground floor windows on the end walls and pairs of casement windows above. All ground floor windows have cambered relieving arches. Each side wall features a two-storey gabled projection with a Tudor-arched door and a two-light window above, along with a two-light ground floor window on each side.
