Description

The Crown is an 18th-century hostelry located on the southeast side of High Street in Wootton Bassett. The building features painted roughcast on brick and has a tiled roof with four hipped dormers. It is two storeys high with an attic and includes a parallel rear block. The facade has three bays set on a plinth, with quoins and a parapet that is adorned with three ball finials, the central finial bearing the initials VR. The central doorcase is highlighted by an open dentilled pediment supported by pilasters and features a semi-circular fanlight, although the doors have been replaced recently. The windows are large 19th-century sashes with four panes and mini shutters. Inside, the front right room has a central spine beam and cornice.
