Description

The Allen monument is a chest tomb located in the churchyard, six metres north of the north-east corner of the north aisle of the Church of the Holy Cross. It dates from between 1762 and 1795 and is made of limestone. The tomb features a moulded table and panelled sides with pilasters, which hold inscriptions in octagonal panels. At the ends, there are oval panels adorned with putti, commemorating various members of the Allen family. The railings that once surrounded the tomb have been removed.
