Description

Three Chimneys is a late 17th-century building that was originally two cottages but is now a detached house. It features Flemish bond brick with stone dressings, as well as some stone and flint chequers and bands, topped with a thatched roof and brick stacks. The building has an 'L' plan and gable end facing the road.

It is two storeys high with three windows, all fitted with casements. The entrance is marked by a stone 'Tudor'-arched moulded doorway with a planked door, located in a thatched porch to the right. To the right of the door, there is a three-light ovolo-moulded casement, while to the left, there are two-light and three-light ovolo-mullioned casements, both with hoodmoulds. The first floor, which was formerly an attic, had its eaves raised in the early 20th century and features two three-light mullioned casements and a two-light leaded casement to the right.

Attached to the right is a wing that has some blocked openings on the ground floor and C20 three-light ovolo-mullioned casements on the first floor. The rear of this wing includes two-light and three-light casements. The left side of the main range displays flint and stone bands and chequers, with a C20 two-light mullioned casement to the left. The rear has C20 mullioned casements and two-light casements on the ground floor.

The interior was not accessible during the survey in May 1985, but it is reported to have an open fireplace with a cambered lintel on stone jambs and planked doors.
