Description
This barn, located to the north-west of Cowage Farmhouse, likely dates from the 17th century, with alterations made in the late 18th century. It is constructed of coursed rubble, featuring wooden lintels and a gabled stone slate roof. The barn has a cruciform plan, with full height midstreys and half-hipped roofs on the east and west facades. There is a lean-to shelter shed at the south end, which has a half-hipped roof, a window on the north side, and ventilation slits on all facades. The midstreys have plank gates. Inside, the barn features a butt-purlin collar and tie-beam roof structure.
