Description
The former mill building, now unoccupied, dates from the late 18th century to early 19th century. It is constructed of coursed limestone rubble with freestone architraves and an eaves course, topped by a hipped pantile roof and a truncated lateral stack. The building has a rectangular plan and stands three storeys high, featuring a symmetrical five-window range. The windows are four-light stone-mullioned with cyma-moulded architraves, but they have no glass and are boarded on the inside, with the ground floor windows also boarded on the outside. A wide segmental arch is located at the centre, complete with impost blocks and a keystone. Although the interior has not been inspected, historical map evidence suggests that the building was constructed between 1788 and 1820 and served as a private school from 1883 to 1899.
