Description
The Church of England School is a national school, now functioning as a primary school, built around 1840. It is constructed of dressed limestone and features a Welsh slate roof with coped verges and truncated gable end stone stacks. The building is two stories high and has three windows across the front. A central stone porch has a Tudor-arched opening with a hoodmould, a planked inner door, and a flat roof. On either side of the porch are hollow-chamfered cross windows, each with a hoodmould. The first floor has three cross windows, and the left side of the building includes a ground floor cross window. The rear features cross windows and a two-story wing made of English bond brick. This school is a notable example of a village school built in an imposing style, situated on land donated by the Long family of Rod Ashton.
