Description
Nos 10 to 13 on Market Street are a row of small houses dating from the early 18th century. They are three storeys tall with attics, built of coursed rubble and topped with modern pantiles at the eaves. Each house has one attic window with a lean-to roof and casements, except for No 12. There is one window per house, featuring paired sashes on the second floor and on the first floor of No 13, with the glazing bars still intact. The first-floor windows have two-light stone frames with centre mullions and small sashes, some of which retain glazing bars. The ground floor has right-hand square-headed doors, and No 10 has a stone mullioned casement. Nos 12 and 13 feature 19th-century shopfronts with entablatures supported by consoles above the fascia. These houses are part of a group that includes Nos 5 to 8 and the boundary wall at Priory Lodge, as well as Nos 10 to 35 and the elevated pavement in front of No 21.
