Description
The garden folly in Tottenham House deerpark is a Grade II* listed structure built around 1720-1730 by Lord Burlington. It is designed as a garden eyecatcher and is constructed of brick with a pebbledashed finish, set on a limestone ashlar base. The folly features a stone string course, cornice, and cap, topped with a lead roof. It has an octagonal shape resting on a square base, with a semibasement that includes a brick vault and external underground access. There are two windows located in the plinth, and the upper section has an arched door that is accessed by six steps, facing the avenue leading to the house. The other cardinal points have blind recesses. Inside, there is a small chamber with a plastered vault.
