Description
The Red House is a farmhouse, now a house in a row, dating from the 17th century and mid-18th century. It features Flemish brick on a stone sill, with flush stone quoins and a tiled roof. The building is two storeys high, with a cellar and attics, and has four wide bays. The central entrance is a boarded door set within a moulded quoined doorcase, topped by a flat canopy supported on stone brackets. There is a plat band, and the front has three-light stone framed and mullioned windows, although there is a 2-light stone window to the left of the door, and the ground floor windows of the third and fourth bays are blocked. The two central bays have hipped dormers. At the rear, there is a stone mullioned and transomed window. A single-storey and attic rear wing on the left has a gable stack and a lean-to beyond. The interior has not been seen but may be of interest.
