Description

The Lyne monument is a chest tomb located in the churchyard about 2 meters north-west of the Mary Guy monument, north of the north aisle of the Church of St. Bartholomew. This tomb dates from the later 18th century and is constructed of ashlar stone. It features two shield plaques on each side and has fielded piers at the center and corners. The monument has a moulded base and cornice, with a pulvinated frieze that is broken forward over the piers. The inscription commemorates E. Lyne, who died in 1770.
