Description
Beckford Cottages is a house located at the end of a row in Hindon, dating from the 18th century and altered in the 19th century. It is constructed of dressed limestone with a tiled and Welsh slate roof and features brick stacks. The building is two stories high with two windows. On the ground floor, there is a 20th-century half-glazed door to the right, a blocked doorway, and a two-light casement window to the left. The first floor includes a 12-pane flush sash window and a two-light casement. The eaves on the right part of the building are raised in brick, likely from the 19th century. To the right, there is a former stable made of brick, which has blocked doorways and 20th-century Gothic-style casements, with a boarded first floor. The rear of the building is in Flemish bond brick and features a half-glazed door, a 20th-century casement, and a four-light casement on the ground floor. The first floor has a single casement, a 16-pane sash window, and a three-light casement, while the former stable to the left has a 20th-century first floor extension. The interior was not accessible during the survey conducted in December 1985.
