Description
Nos 8 and 10 High Street are a pair of cottages located at the end of a row, dating from the 17th century but rebuilt in the late 18th century. They are constructed of English bond brick with limestone quoins and footings, topped with a tiled roof that has a half-hip on the left side, ceramic ridge cresting, and brick stacks. The cottages are two stories tall and have four windows. Each cottage features a 20th-century planked door with a three-light casement window on either side; No 10 also has a blocked doorway to the left. On the first floor, there are four three-light casement windows. The left side of the building is made of rubble stone and includes a planked door to the left, along with some light timber-framing in the attic gable. The rear of the cottages has two-light casement windows. Inside, the cottages have open fireplaces with chamfered lintels set on stone jambs, as well as chamfered beams with stepped stops.
