Description
Nos 41 to 43 on Roundstone Street, built around the 1860s, are two-storey buildings with an attic, constructed from painted ashlar. They feature a plain frieze cornice and a blocking course. Each house has two windows of different widths, fitted with plate glass sashes that have brackets supporting the cills. A good stone dentil cornice runs along the common fascia above the shop windows, which are divided by Doric pilasters, with No 42 having two part-fluted pilasters. No 43 includes a round-headed doorway leading to a now recessed door, and the building has coped verges topped with modern concrete tiles. There are also two modern dormers and two ridge chimneys made of ashlar, one of which retains a moulded capping. The rear of the property is brick-built and features two gables, with a rubble east wall that has a side door made up of six deep moulded panels, the lower panel adorned with corner beads and a cast iron knocker.
