Description
The lychgate to the east of the Church of St Mary is a structure dated 1896, inscribed on the east lintel as being erected in memory of Maria Meredith Brown. It is built from timber and clay tiles on a stone substructure and is designed in the Perpendicular style. The lychgate features gables on the south and east sides, adorned with cusped tracery. It has two-leaf gates that include pierced quatrefoil panelling. The south side of the lychgate opens onto the Meredith Brown plot, which is enclosed by a dressed stone wall with crocketed pinnacles on the corner piers and wrought iron railings.
