Description

The Eyles monument is a chest tomb located in the churchyard about 6 meters south of the south-west angle of the Church of St. Thomas. It dates from the late 18th century and is constructed of ashlar stone. The tomb features two fielded plaques on each side, plain ends, and a moulded base with a cornice that has a fluted frieze. The north side of the monument has an inscription dedicated to E. Eyles, who died in 1855, while the west end bears a decipherable date of 1831.
