Description

This is a row of three houses, originally dating from the 17th century, situated on Coppice Hill. They were initially built with a single gable facing the street. Nos. 2 and 6 have been altered with a mansard roof to No. 2, featuring dormer windows, and modern pantiled roofs with stone tiles running down to the eaves between the gables of Nos. 5 and 6. The windows are generally 2- and 3-light casement windows, many with leaded glass and stone mullions and dripmoulds. No. 5 has some later windows on the ground floor - one is a sash window, and the other two are fixed lights with glazing bars. Each house has a square-headed doorway; No. 2 has a 6-panel door. There are garage doors to the right of No. 6. These houses are part of a group that includes Nos. 3 to 8, The Shambles, The Kings Arms Hotel, Nos. 27 to 29 Silver Street, and No. 2 Kingston Road.
