Description
Halfway House is a detached house dating from the 17th century, with alterations made in the mid-19th century. The exterior is rendered, featuring a tiled roof with coped verges and gable end brick stacks. The building has a baffle entry and is two stories high with a four-window east front. The entrance consists of a planked door set in a chamfered stone surround, with a string course that extends over to the left of the center. To the left of the door is a 4-pane sash window, while three 4-pane sashes are positioned to the right. A moulded string course runs along the first floor, adorned with two carved masks above the door. At the rear, there is a 2-light cyma-mullioned casement and French windows on the ground floor, which are part of a conservatory, and the first floor features two 2-light mullioned casements. An attached 19th-century wing on the right has 4-pane sashes and a hipped pantiled roof. The interior was not accessible during the survey conducted in July 1986.
