Description
The Hollies is an 18th-century building, altered in the early 19th century, situated in Westbury Leigh. It is a two-story structure built of brick, featuring a moulded stone cornice and a brick parapet with stone coping. The roof is covered with pantiles, and there are 19th-century octagonal chimneys. The building has an "L" shape, with a gabled wing to the left. This wing’s gable has a continued coping with a saddlestone. The end of the left wing facing the road incorporates a two-story, three-light angular bay with single architraved plate glass sash windows on each floor, a moulded cornice, and a lead flat above. The main block to the right has a two-light casement window on the left and two three-light windows, all with stone frames and mullions, but with 19th-century glazing on the first floor. The ground floor features an eight-panel door with flush bottom panels within a wide stone architrave, topped by a flat moulded stone hood supported by cut stone brackets, and a wreath-type knocker. Four plate glass sash windows are set within stone architraves. 19th-century iron railings, including dog rails and octagonal standards with dog leg braces, run along the road. A gabled wing projects to the rear, while a projecting gabled wing to the right also has saddlestones to its coping.
