Description
This is a mid-17th century house on St Mary’s Street, Malmesbury. It is constructed of limestone rubble, originally whitewashed, with a brick stack on the left-hand side and an interlocking tile roof. The house originally comprised a single room. It is a single-storey building with an attic, featuring a single-window front. A timber lintel sits above the left-hand doorway, which has a 20th-century boarded door. There is also a 20th-century casement window and a 20th-century half dormer window. The interior retains heavy timber ceiling beams. A curved stair bay is located at the rear of the left side, now containing a late 20th-century staircase. The roof is supported by a collar truss. There is a historical suggestion that the house may have once been part of the Three Cups Public House, located on Gloucester Road.
