Description

Pipers Barn is a farmhouse, now divided into three cottages, dating from the 16th to 17th centuries. It is timber framed with whitewashed brick nogging and has a thatched roof. Numbers 247 and 248 face onto The Green, and are single-storey with attics, arranged with three bays, the timber framing being two panels high, featuring straight corner braces. The facades have boarded doors and timber casement windows, with three flush dormers. The building has an external stack to the left of the first bay, and another stack between the second and third bays. Number 249 forms a two-storey, three-bay cross wing, also timber framed with two panels at each floor, including corner braces. The entrance is on the side, with a pair of 20th-century timber panelled doors, and timber casement windows. The front room internally has a moulded spine beam. The interiors of numbers 247 and 248 were not inspected.
