Description
The lychgate and railings at the Church of St. Nicholas were built in 1844 by Benjamin Ferrey. The lychgate is constructed from ashlar limestone and features a slate roof in the Romanesque revival style. It has tall chevron arches supported by short raised columns, with steeply gabled ends and a roundel at the apex. The structure includes paired round-headed sidelights and a corbel table. The roof is open, and there are timber front gates with elaborate iron hinges. On either side, there are cast iron railings attached to a dwarf wall, which ends in stone and flint piers.
