Description

The Granary is a late 18th-century to 19th-century farmyard building, originally part of a larger farm complex, and subsequently converted into a house. It is constructed of rubble stone with roofs of stone tile, slate, and imitation stone tile. The building has a courtyard layout open to the south, and consists of single and one-and-a-half storey elements.

The west and part of the north side feature an open range of stalls, stables, and pigsties. The west side has six open-fronted stalls with circular piers, followed by five stalls. The north side features a through opening, a window, a door, a window, and three pigsties with square piers. The rear of this section has an imitation stone-tile roof. The north range continues with a stone-tiled section, hipped at the northeast angle, and incorporates three 20th-century windows. A raised buttressed rubble stone wall runs along the rear. The east range comprises a converted granary and a larger barn.

The granary originally had four open bays to the ground floor, now infilled with 20th-century doors and windows. Four 20th-century gabled dormers are above, and a pyramid-roofed louvre sits on the ridge. The east side has 20th-century dormers and ground-floor openings. The attached barn has central doors opening onto the courtyard, with upper openings on each side and a projecting gabled cart entry to the east, featuring a cambered inner arch. It contains a 7-bay king-post roof.
