Description
A row of three estate cottages, or almshouses, was built in 1868 as part of the Compton House estate. The buildings are constructed of red brick with ashlar dressings and have a plain-tiled eaves roof, with end stacks and two ridge stacks. They are built to a symmetrical design, with a central gable flanked by two dormer gables on each side. The central gable features a date plaque and a three-light window. The dormer gables have two-light windows. The ground floor contains two two-light windows with a door between each house. The centre door, for No. 15, is set within an ornate timber porch with an ashlar base and turned baluster sides. The doors to Nos. 14 and 18 have timber gabled hoods, a detail characteristic of other housing on the Compton estate. Stone mullioned windows with leaded glass are set throughout.
