Description

Bentley House is a pair of early 19th-century houses in Calne, which have been restored and altered in the late 20th century and are now used as offices. The houses are constructed of limestone ashlar with brick stacks and a slate roof, arranged with a double-depth plan. Each house is three stories tall, with a symmetrical three-window facade. They feature a first-floor cill band and a parapet. The doorways have round arches with plate-glass fanlights and six-panel doors. Flanking the doorways are Venetian windows. A late 19th-century shop front with panelled jambs and a bracketed cornice is on the right-hand side of one property. The first-floor windows are 6/6-pane sashes, while the second-floor windows are 3/6-pane sashes. The interior has been altered. Formerly, 20th-century shop windows were present.
