Description

Hill Street Farmhouse is a farmhouse that has been converted into a detached house. It dates from around 1700, with an addition made in the late 18th century. The building is constructed of limestone ashlar and rubble stone, featuring a tiled roof on the earlier section and a Welsh slate roof on the later addition. It has a three-storey, three-window west front. The central entrance consists of a four-panelled door, with a 12-pane sash window to the left and French windows to the right. On the first floor, there are three 12-pane sash windows, and the second floor also has three 12-pane sashes.

To the left of the main building is a rear outshut from the earlier range, which includes a planked door and two-light casements. Adjacent to this is a late 18th-century outhouse with a planked door and a slate roof. Both main sections of the farmhouse have coped verges. The rear of the late 18th-century range features a large blocked opening with a 12-pane sash window and a planked door to the right, along with a fixed window to the left. The first floor has two 12-pane sashes, and there is one 12-pane sash on the second floor. The earlier range to the right has two three-light casements on the ground and first floors, along with a blocked door to the left.

Inside, the farmhouse includes chamfered beams and a blocked open fireplace. The late 18th-century range features four-panelled and six-panelled doors, as well as an open well staircase with two stick balusters per tread. The earlier 18th-century range has an open fireplace with chamfered stone jambs and a timber lintel, along with planked doors. There is also a cellar at the south end, which has a segmental barrel-vaulted roof.
