Description
Ashwood is a detached house dating from the 17th century, with alterations made in the 19th century. It is constructed of rubble stone and features a hipped thatched roof with a brick stack positioned to the right of center. The house has a baffle entry plan and is two stories high with three windows. The entrance is a 19th-century studded door located in a thatched porch to the right of center, accompanied by a 2-light casement window to the right and a single-light window along with two 2-light casements to the left, one of which is in a blocked doorway. On the first floor, there are three 2-light casements.
The right side of the house has an attached greenhouse and two 2-light casements on the first floor. The left side features a single-light casement on the first floor and shows evidence of a lower former roofline. At the rear, there is an extension made of cob with a thatched roof, along with a 19th-century lean-to extension to the left and a 20th-century dormer in the attic. Inside, the house has deep chamfered beams and doors with four raised panels.
