Description
A row of three cottages located on the south side of Heytesbury High Street, dating to the late 18th century. The cottages are built of English garden wall bond brick with a tiled roof and gable end brick stacks. They present a six-windowed appearance over two storeys. Number 71 has a 20th-century door and two 6-pane fixed windows. Number 72 features a late 19th-century six-panelled door with a hoodmould and two 6-pane fixed windows. Number 73 retains its original 6-panelled door, a 16-pane sash window with shutters, and 4-pane fixed windows. A three-brick plat band with a toothed middle course marks the first floor, and six 2-light casements are present. The cottages have stone quoins and a dentilled brick eaves cornice. Three hipped dormers with 2-light casements are visible on the roof. The rear of the cottages has 20th-century extensions and 2-light casements, with hipped dormers also to the roof. The interiors were inaccessible at the time of the survey in May 1985.
