Description
Roche Court is a house built between 1804 and 1805 by C.H. Tatham for Francis T. Egerton. It features limestone ashlar and rendering, with slate and lead roofs, and stands two storeys tall. The main front has seven bays, with the first three bays added later. The fourth, fifth, and sixth bays are set forward and include a tetrastyle Tuscan portico over a recessed entrance, which has a central doorway and flanking windows. The entrance features a pair of three-panelled doors with an overlight, framed by a timber architrave that rises to a broken pediment. The ground floor windows are 12-paned sashes with concealed boxes and key blocks, and there is a plat band above. The first-floor windows are similar but consist of 9-paned single hung sashes. The wide eaves have a panelled soffit. The garden elevation has four bays with deep sash windows on the ground floor and a two-storey bow window at the north-east end. To the left of the entrance is a rendered wing that is later in date but matches the main building. There are extensive service wings at the rear. Inside, the entrance hall features a black and white chequered floor and cornice, along with good late Georgian chimneypieces.
