Description

Kingsdown House is an early 19th-century house, originally built as part of the extensions to the private asylum at Kingsdown House, possibly as a doctor's residence. The front is constructed of ashlar with a slate roof, and features a coped west gable and a hipped east gable. There are north wallface and south-east corner stacks. The house is three storeys high, with a two-window front range. The north front has sash windows in flush, chamfered Tudor arched surrounds: 15-pane upper sashes, 12-pane first floor sashes, and a ground floor blank opening. A four-panel door is set within a matching surround, accompanied by a stone-tiled trellis porch and a 12-pane sash window to the right. The east front has a two-window range, with intersecting glazing bars to the heads of the ground and first floor windows. The south front mirrors the surrounds of the first and second-floor openings, but a door is located on the second floor to the right. Twelve-pane sashes are present throughout.
