Description
Rawlings Farmhouse is a 17th-century farmhouse, dated 1691, constructed of rubble stone with a stone slate roof. It features an east-end stack. The building is two storeys and an attic, with a five-window front. The windows are ovolo-moulded, two-light mullion windows, except for the window to the left of the front door, which is a three-light design. A centre front door is set within a flush moulded doorcase with a dated lintel. Flush quoins are present, along with a dripcourse over the ground floor, stepped above the door. A later gabled ashlar porch has been added. One hipped dormer is situated centrally. The west end exhibits matching two-light windows with hoodmoulds on each floor, including the attic. The east end has a matching attic light and a two-storey addition featuring an end stack. The property was owned by the Matthews family from the 18th century and is mentioned in the diary of Francis Kilvert.
