Description
Common Farmhouse, dated 1636 and altered in the 18th century, is a rubble stone building with a stone slate roof and end and ridge stacks. It has two storeys and a three-window front. The windows are 3-light, ovolo-moulded stone mullion windows with hoodmoulds and leaded lights, although the right bay is obscured by a projecting, gabled range added in the 18th century. A central door is set within a raised surround and has a hood supported by scroll brackets dating to around 1700. The projecting range has a 3-light, cyma-moulded flush mullion window on its east front, and a lower section beyond with a north-facing door. The west side of the projecting range has a hipped dormer and a ground-floor window and door. A date plaque reading CAL WH 1636 is on the west end of the main range.
