Description
Emwell House is an early 19th-century building located on Emwell Street in Warminster. It is two storeys high with an attic, constructed of rubble stone featuring ashlar quoins, window surrounds, and a projecting string course at the first floor. The building has a joined central break beneath wide flat eaves supported by pairs of cut wood brackets. The hipped mansard roof is covered with old tiles and sweeps out over the eaves, with two chimneys positioned on the ridge.
The windows are glazing bar sash types, with two on the first floor flanking a central French casement that has narrow side panes, leading out onto a balcony with contemporary railings. Below this, there is a six-panel central door with narrow sidelights, flanked by three-light windows on each side. To the left, there is a hipped dormer, while the end facing the road features a central dormer and a panel on each floor, both with ashlar surrounds and keystones. There is a modern extension to the left that is not of special interest.
