Description
The War Memorial, built in 1920, incorporates an early 18th century monumental aedicule frame originally dedicated to Sir John Talbot, who died in 1714, located in the parish church. The memorial is constructed of ashlar stone and features a segmental pediment with an ornate armorial trophy in the tympanum, along with a finely moulded entablature supported by two Corinthian columns that stand on a fielded panelled base. The 1920 ashlar infill includes a niche and a standing cross above an inscription panel. The memorial is flanked by concave-curved rubble stone walls and piers. Originally situated in the northeast chapel, the memorial was moved in the late 19th century to unblock a window, and the plaque has since been relocated to the chancel wall.
