Description
Wylye House is a detached farmhouse, originally listed as Wylands Cottage, dating from the early 19th century. It is constructed of banded flint and limestone with a hipped roof made of Welsh slate and features brick stacks. The building is two stories tall and has a symmetrical front with three windows that contain sash frames. A central Tuscan porch with double doors is flanked by 12-pane margin-pane sashes. The first floor has a plat band and three 9-pane margin-pane sashes.
On the right side of the house, there are two 12-pane margin-pane sashes on the ground floor and two 9-pane margin-pane sashes on the first floor. The left side features sashes and a single-storey outhouse, which has a stone tablet with initials and the date R A/1709, likely from an earlier structure on this site. At the rear, there is a 4-panelled door in a glazed porch, along with sashes and a steel casement, and an attached single-storey outbuilding with a planked door.
Inside, the house includes a staircase with stick balusters and a moulded handrail, reeded fireplace surrounds with paterae, and 6-panelled doors.
