Description
Cottage approximately 70 metres west of Belcombe Court. Built in the 1740s for Francis Yerbury, this cottage features coursed limestone rubble with dressed quoins and a gabled stone-coped pantile roof, along with a stone stack at the right end. Designed in the Gothick style, it has a two-unit plan and stands two storeys tall with a two-window range. The front includes a gabled porch with a pointed-arched doorway, which contains a late 19th century half-glazed door set in square-headed architraves. The windows are paired two-light designs set in raised pointed-arched architraves, with a niche above the door framed by a raised ogee-arched architrave featuring cusping. Similar windows are found on the gable ends, alongside an 18th century two-light chamfered stone-mullioned window on the ground floor. Inside, there is a stone-flag floor and an open fireplace with a 19th century bressummer. The cottage is situated to the west of the ha-ha that bounds the garden created for Francis Yerbury, adjacent to Belcombe Court.
