Description

30 Portway is a late 18th or early 19th century building, set back behind numbers 26 and 28. The main front of the building faces east, at the rear of the New Meeting Schoolroom in Common Close. It is two storeys and has an attic. The exterior is constructed of coursed and squared rubble, with an old tile roof and gable-end chimneys. The windows are arranged in two ranges of tripartite sash windows with glazing bars, and each has chamfered stone drips above. A central flush panel door is topped with a narrow overlight of four panes, and a segmental wooden hood. A Victorian foot-scraper is located to the right on a pitched brick front path. The garden front, to the west, has only two windows, with a narrow first-floor window of less significance.
