Description

No. 1 Wood Lane is an early 18th-century house, altered in the 19th century. It is constructed of limestone rubble with freestone quoins, a plinth, and architraves. The roof is slate, with a gambrel shape swept to the lower slope, incorporating three 19th-century dormers with raking two- and one-light windows. Ashlar stacks are present at the gable ends, with one having a brick shaft. The house has a three-unit plan.

The exterior features two storeys and a four-window range. It contains 19th-century plate-glass sash windows with horns. A cyma-moulded three-light stone-mullioned window, with a 19th-century casement in the central light, is located on the first floor to the far right; below it, a timber lintel covers 20th-century carriage-entrance doors. The remainder of the facade is symmetrical with a three-window range. A 19th-century six-panel door with a hood on brackets is accessed through a surround, and is located beneath a mullioned window with a 19th-century sash window to the left light. The other windows have plain surrounds.

The interior was not inspected.
