Description
Bitham Cottage is a house dating from the 17th century, constructed with a timber frame and whitewashed brick noggings on sarsen sills, topped with a thatched roof. It is a single-storey building with an attic, consisting of 2½ bays and featuring a lobby entry at the centre half bay. The west bay is framed with four panels high and has wavy corner braces. The east bay, originally the parlour end, has been refaced in brick and raised to two storeys, likely in the early 19th century. The cottage has paned timber windows, a roof that is hipped to the right and quarter hipped to the left, and a central brick stack. There is a 20th-century flat-roofed extension at the rear. Inside, the cottage features back-to-back fireplaces with timber fire lintels and moulded ceiling beams in the parlour.
