Description
Long Dean Cottages is a pair of cottages, now a house, dating from the 18th century. They are built from rubble stone and feature a 20th-century plain tile roof, which was originally topped with a ridge stack. The building has two storeys and a five-window range. The right side is the earlier section, showcasing three first-floor two-light recessed cyma-moulded mullion windows and two similar three-light windows on the ground floor, both with hoodmoulds. The left side is double fronted, with two two-light flush stopped cyma-moulded windows on each floor; the ground floor windows have dripstones, and there is a central 20th-century door set in a plain chamfered surround. The rear of the building has mostly been altered in the 20th century and includes a 20th-century rear wing that incorporates a datestone from a barn at Westrop, Corsham.
