Description
Lower Colham is a 17th-century house built of rubble stone with a stone tiled roof and end wall stacks. It has one-and-a-half storeys and features a three-gabled northeast front. The first floor has three-light stone mullion windows, with the left window having an ovolo moulding, while the centre and right windows have a hollow chamfer moulding. On the ground floor, there is a three-light timber ovolo-moulded mullion window, a door with a pair of casement windows, and another three-light timber ovolo-moulded mullion window. The rear of the house has dormer gables at each end, with the right side being a 20th-century addition, and timber casement windows, most of which have been renewed. There is also a 20th-century garage with a stone tiled roof at the left end. Inside, the north end room features a large timber-lintel fireplace and a winding stair to the side, along with heavy chamfered beams with bar stops. There is a smaller timber-lintel fireplace at the south end. The building was apparently two cottages formerly and is located on a former mill site, with the mill building having been demolished.
