Description

This is a pair of farm cottages, originally built at right angles to the road and later combined into a single dwelling. The cottages date to 1726, with an addition made in the early 19th century. They are constructed with cob walls faced in flint, featuring a brick plat band and brick dressings. The roof is covered with 20th-century interlocking concrete tiles. The cottages have two storeys and a three-bay lobby entry plan, with an unheated room containing the staircase situated against the road. A further bay was added early in the 19th century. There are two entrances sheltered by gabled timber porches with half-glazed doors. The windows are 20th-century replacements with gauged brick lintels. The roof is asymmetrical, with a longer pitch to the rear and half-hipped ends. Central and gable stacks are present. Carved bricks on the gable end display the initials "WC" and the date "1726".
