Description

No 17 is an estate cottage built around 1860-1865, constructed from brick laced flint. It has been extended by one bay to the left, which originally served as a blacksmith's shop and has now been refaced in brickwork. The cottage features a tiled roof and is designed in an L-plan over two storeys. The entrance is located in a hipped porch at the re-entrant angle. The forward stair wing has a gable with timber framing and a stepped stair window. The cottage has casement windows with stop-chamfered frames, and the ground floor openings are designed with pointed arches. There is a right gable stack, and a hipped garage is attached to the left. It is noted that the building may incorporate an earlier structure.
