Description
Lower Farmhouse is a detached farmhouse dating from the 17th century, with a rebuilding around 1800. The structure features timber framing, Flemish bond brick on the rebuilt west wall, and some limestone and flint. It has a concrete tiled roof and brick stacks. The gable end faces the road and includes the entrance. The building is two stories tall with three windows. The entrance consists of a six-panelled door, and there is a 16-pane sash window with a cambered head, along with a blocked door to the right. On the first floor, there is another 16-pane sash window and cusped bargeboards on the gable, which has a half-hipped roof.
The right side of the house features a large external lateral stack, with a three-light and a two-light casement to the right. The first floor has two three-light and one two-light casement. The left side has an integral outshut beneath a 20th-century catslide roof, with a single and a two-light casement on the ground floor, and a 20th-century dormer on the catslide roof. Inside, there are stairs located in the outshut, a four-bay roof with two tiers of butt purlins, and some curved windbracing.
