Description
Shergolds is a late 17th-century farmhouse that has been converted into a detached cottage. It is constructed of dressed limestone with brick used for the dormers, and it features a thatched roof with gable end brick stacks. The building has a gable end facing the street and consists of a single storey with an attic, containing three windows. The central entrance is a planked door, with a three-light recessed chamfered mullioned window to the right and a two-light beaded mullioned window to the left, which has a single blocked light to the right.
In the attic, there are three eyebrow dormers, each with two-light leaded casements. The right side of the building is windowless. At the rear, there is a two-light recessed chamfered mullioned window to the left, a two-light casement window in the center, and a two-light beaded mullioned window to the right, along with three eyebrow dormers featuring two-light casements. Attached to the left side of the front is a single-storey outhouse, which is weatherboarded and has a planked door with strap hinges, as well as a hipped thatched roof. The interior was not accessible during the survey conducted in March 1985.
