Description
25 North Street is a 16th century or earlier small Wealden-type three-bay hall house, one of only two in Wilton. The building is timber framed with brick infill and features a half-hipped tiled roof. The first floor is jettied on the sides, supported by curved brackets that hold up the eaves over a recessed center. The windows have been altered, with three on the first floor, the center one being a lunette from the 18th century, and three on the ground floor, including a modern window on the right and two late sash windows. The door is off-center in the right-hand bay. At the rear, there is a circular wreathed and radiating window on the left side of the first floor and a decorative glazed cast-iron two-light casement on the right side of the ground floor. A chimney is located in the center bay at the rear. There is a modern kitchen extension to the right, and the interior layout has been altered. The first floor has braced timber party walls, while the former side bays on the ground floor feature cross beams that are tenoned into the main beams.
