Description

The Baker Monument is an early 19th-century chest tomb located about 7 meters southwest of the porch of the Church of St James. It is constructed of ashlar stone and features a festooned plaque on the south side, which is flanked by arched niches containing piled books and a descending dove. The north plaque is adorned with draped urns, and each side has niches with weeping putti. The monument is supported by decorated angle piers at each end. The south inscription commemorates Mary Baker, who died in 1807.
