Description
The entrance arch to Dauntsey House, dating from around 1800, is constructed of ashlar stone. It features a large central carriage arch flanked by smaller pedestrian arches in slightly advanced side bays. The arch has a cornice and a blocking course, with a raised blank panel above the center. The central section includes a moulded arch with a scroll keystone and impost bands that extend across the side bays, which have plain unmoulded arches and a blank roundel above the band. There is a set of 19th-century matching iron gates, while the rear of the arch is made of squared rubble stone.
