Description
Amberley is a cottage dating from the 17th century or early 18th century. It is constructed from colourwashed chalkstone and sarsen, with the front faced in brick. The cottage features a thatched roof and is single storey with an attic, comprising three bays. There is a 19th-century gabled porch at the door located between the second and third bays, creating a lobby entry plan. The main living room, now used as a dining room, is on the left, with the kitchen positioned in the inner room. The cottage has 19th-century casement windows with cambered heads, three flush dormers raised on the exposed wall plate, and an additional single dormer at the rear. A second brick stack is located on the left gable, and the roof is half-hipped on the right. Inside, the central room features a chamfered spine beam, although the main fireplace has been blocked.
